Domaine Jean François Ganevat is one of the Jura’s most celebrated and influential estates, renowned for producing wines of extraordinary purity, energy and individuality. Based in Rotalier, in the southern Jura, Jean François and Anne Ganevat farm an exceptional collection of old vineyards according to organic and biodynamic principles, with a deep respect for biodiversity, soil health and traditional vine material. Through meticulous vineyard work and a minimalist approach in the cellar, Ganevat creates wines that reveal the unique character of Jura’s ancient varieties and distinctive terroirs.

En Billat Rouge is a pure expression of Pinot Noir from one of Ganevat’s Jura vineyard parcels, showcasing the variety through the lens of the region’s cool climate and distinctive soils. The grapes are cultivated organically and harvested by hand before undergoing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, with whole bunches used to preserve aromatic lift and structure. Aged in old oak barrels with minimal intervention, the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered and without added sulphur. Fragrant aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry are layered with violet, forest floor, herbs and subtle spice. The palate combines Pinot Noir’s elegance with Jura’s characteristic freshness, offering fine tannins, mineral tension and a long savoury finish.
