Juravinum is the commercial label of the Fruitière Vinicole de Pupillin cooperative in the Jura region of eastern France. The cooperative was established in the early part of the twentieth century by growers from Pupillin who joined forces to vinify and market their wines together. Today the cooperative sources fruit from around thirty vineyard owners mostly around Pupillin, Arbois and nearby communes in Jura. Members farm sustainably with traditional methods, and the winemaking for Juravinum cuvées uses careful manual harvesting, indigenous yeast fermentation and low intervention in the cellar to produce wines that express the cool continental climate and unique terroir of the region.
Jura Chardonnay Type 2020 from Juravinum is made from 100 % Chardonnay grown within the Côtes du Jura appellation. The grapes are hand harvested and vinified in a style traditional to Jura that allows a controlled oxidative character influenced by a thin layer of yeast. This gives the wine notes of brown apple and nutty complexity alongside fresh citrus and orchard fruit elements, with lively acidity and mineral tension. The alcohol level is around 13.5 % for this vintage.
