Rosamarinu Blanc, Sant Armettu 2025
Sant Armettu
Domaine Sant Armettu is one of the defining estates of southern Corsica, situated near Sartène between the granite mountains of the island's interior and the Mediterranean coastline. The domaine was established by Gilles Seroin in 1996 after decades of supplying fruit to the local cooperative, inspired by the Burgundian model of estate bottling and terroir expression. Today he is joined by his children Jeanne and Guillaume, who continue to develop one of the most ambitious and terroir focused projects on the island. The vineyards are spread across a remarkable diversity of granitic and clay rich sites overlooking the Gulf of Valinco and the wild coastline around Tizzano. Organic farming, indigenous grape varieties and meticulous parcel selection form the backbone of the estate, while the cellar philosophy favours gentle extraction, native fermentations and élevage tailored to each terroir. Sant Armettu has become one of Corsica's benchmark domaines, producing wines that combine Mediterranean generosity with striking freshness and precision.
Rosamarinu Blanc takes its name from the Corsican word for rosemary and is intended as a pure expression of the island's maritime landscape. Sourced from decomposed granite soils within the Sartène appellation, the wine is built primarily around Vermentinu, often complemented by a small proportion of the rare indigenous Biancu Gentile variety. Fermentation and élevage take place in stainless steel, followed by several months on fine lees to build texture while preserving the freshness and aromatic definition that define the cuvée. The granitic soils bring a distinctive mineral tension, while the proximity of the Mediterranean lends an unmistakable saline character. Aromatically, the wine opens with citrus peel, white peach, jasmine and wild Corsican herbs, carrying subtle notes of maquis scrub and sea spray. The palate is energetic and finely textured, balancing ripe orchard fruit with bright acidity, mineral drive and a persistent iodine tinged finish. It is a wine that captures both the rugged granite landscapes and the maritime influence that make Sartène one of the most distinctive white wine terroirs in the Mediterranean.
