Chambolle-Musigny, Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat 2023
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is a highly regarded family estate based in Chambolle Musigny, recognised for producing classically styled, finely structured Pinot Noir from some of the village’s most prized terroirs. The domaine was established in its modern form through the Hudelot and Noëllat family holdings and is today run by Alain Hudelot Noëllat and his family, with a strong focus on precision viticulture and site expression. The estate works across Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanée and surrounding villages, farming a range of Premier Cru and village level parcels with meticulous attention to vine balance and soil health. In the vineyard, yields are carefully controlled and harvest decisions are made to preserve aromatic finesse and phenolic ripeness. In the cellar, vinification is traditional and restrained, with gentle extraction, partial whole cluster use depending on vintage, and élevage in French oak barrels calibrated to enhance structure without overshadowing fruit purity.
Chambolle Musigny is assembled from a selection of village level parcels on limestone rich soils, where thin topsoil and excellent drainage produce wines defined by perfume, finesse and textural elegance. The vines are predominantly old plantings, contributing concentration and depth while maintaining the hallmark delicacy of the appellation. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, with careful infusion style extraction designed to preserve aromatic lift and avoid overt structure. Élevage takes place in French oak barrels, with a measured proportion of new oak to support refinement and complexity. The wine opens with aromas of red cherry, wild raspberry and crushed strawberry layered with violet, rose petal and subtle spice. A fine mineral thread runs through the palate, reflecting the limestone base of Chambolle Musigny. The structure is silky and composed, with finely integrated tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, graceful finish that emphasises clarity, perfume and understated depth.
