Marjorie Gallet established Roc des Anges in 2001, having trained in viticulture and oenology in Montpellier before setting out to build her own domaine in the Roussillon. Her husband Stéphane joined the project in 2008, and together they have developed an estate known for its old vines, remarkably low yields and precise, mineral driven wines. Based in Montner, the domaine farms its vineyards organically and biodynamically, with a particular focus on the cooler northern slopes of Força Réal. In a region better known for its Mediterranean warmth, Gallet has built her reputation on producing whites with freshness, tension and considerable finesse.

Llum, meaning light in Catalan, is drawn from a collection of small parcels on ancient schist and clay limestone soils. The blend brings together Grenache Gris, Macabeu, Grenache Blanc, Carignan Blanc and Gris, and Malvoisie, with vines ranging from young plantings to a century old. The northern exposure helps preserve freshness, while the shallow, mineral rich soils contribute a distinct saline character. Expect pear, citrus peel and almond blossom, followed by a textured palate with fine acidity and a long, stony finish. A beautifully restrained white from the Roussillon, with far more freshness than its southern origins might suggest.
