The Lafouge family has been making wine in Auxey Duresses since the seventeenth century, quietly building a reputation for characterful, traditionally made Burgundy. Gilles Lafouge joined the family domaine in the 1980s, developing its range of individual vineyard bottlings, and is now joined by his son Maxime. Working across around 10 hectares in Auxey Duresses, Meursault and Pommard, the family combines careful vineyard work with a restrained approach in the cellar. Hand harvesting and indigenous yeasts remain central to their philosophy.
This Bourgogne Pinot Noir comes from a parcel close to Château de Pommard, just outside the village appellation. The fruit is handled to preserve freshness and purity, producing a more approachable expression of the Côte d'Or. Fragrant red cherry and raspberry lead, with hints of violet and gentle spice. Silky tannins and a bright line of acidity give the wine an easy elegance, without sacrificing the savoury detail that makes Burgundy so compelling.
