The Lafouge family has been established in Auxey Duresses since 1650, building a reputation as specialists in the appellation’s white and red wines. Today, Gilles works alongside his son Maxime, overseeing around 10 hectares across the Côte de Beaune. Their approach is traditional and measured, with hand harvested fruit, careful vineyard work and an emphasis on expressing the character of each site. In the cellar, wines are aged in barrel with little intervention before bottling.
Les Hautés comes from three small parcels totalling just 0.3 hectares, situated higher up the slope beside Meursault Vireuils. The vines average around 50 years old, growing in a mix of clay and limestone. Fermented and aged in oak, the wine balances the richness of the 2022 vintage with the freshness of its elevated position. Aromas of white flowers, citrus oil and stone fruit lead into a palate of golden apple and ripe pear, with a fine saline edge and plenty of energy. A generous but finely balanced Chardonnay with a distinctly mineral finish.
