The Confuron and Cotetidot families have deep roots in Burgundy, with viticultural histories stretching back to the seventeenth century. The domaine was established in 1964 through their union and is now based in Vosne Romanée, where the family farms around 11 hectares across the Côte de Nuits. Led by Yves Confuron, the estate follows a traditional approach, favouring organic vineyard practices, low yields and whole bunch fermentation. The wines are characteristically concentrated and structured, reflecting a preference for ripe fruit, firm tannins and extended ageing.
Craipillot is a Premier Cru vineyard on the southern edge of Gevrey Chambertin, close to the village and below the more celebrated sites of the appellation. Its limestone rich soils produce Pinot Noir with both depth and freshness. The wine combines dark cherry and blackberry with violet, undergrowth and savoury spice. Whole bunch fermentation contributes aromatic complexity and structure, while ageing in French oak gives the wine further depth. Firm but finely textured tannins and a persistent mineral finish make this a serious, age worthy expression of Gevrey Chambertin.
