Château Gombaude-Guillot is a family-run eight-hectare estate situated on the central plateau of Pomerol, neighbouring Trotanoy and Clinet. The Técher family has worked the property since the late nineteenth century, and today Olivier Técher continues the shift to organic and biodynamic farming begun in the 1990s. The vineyards sit on gravel and sandy clay with veins of iron-rich crasse de fer, lending depth and minerality. Fermentations are carried out with native yeasts, and ageing takes place in a combination of French oak and clay amphora to preserve vibrancy and structure.
Château Gombaude-Guillot 2017 reflects a fresh vintage that favoured elegance over power. Merlot leads the blend with a touch of Cabernet Franc, hand harvested and fermented naturally before ageing in mixed oak and amphora for twelve months. The wine shows lifted red fruit, fine-grained tannins, and bright floral perfume, expressing the balance of the plateau’s sandy-clay soils.
