Arianna’s home town of Vittoria lies in the far south of Sicily just to the west of Ragusa. It is here that she has been making wine for the past ten years under the tutelage of her uncle, Giusto Occhipinti who owns and runs the famous COS estate.
A benchmark expression of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, Grotte Alte blends Frappato and Nero d’Avola from limestone-rich soils in Vittoria. The nose is lifted and vibrant, with sour cherry, wild strawberry, blood orange and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it balances elegance and depth, bright acidity, fine tannins and a savoury, mineral edge give structure and persistence. A wine of purity and quiet power, combining Sicilian warmth with remarkable freshness and finesse.
