Domaine Thomas Morey is a family owned estate based in Chassagne Montrachet, representing the modern evolution of one of Burgundy’s most respected winegrowing families. Thomas Morey established his domaine in 2007 after working alongside his father at Domaine Bernard Morey, choosing to focus on meticulous parcel selection and precise vineyard farming across Chassagne Montrachet, Saint Aubin and surrounding appellations. The estate is known for its rigorous attention to detail in the vineyard, with sustainable viticulture and careful soil management aimed at preserving balance and site transparency. In the cellar, Thomas Morey employs a restrained approach, using indigenous fermentations, measured oak influence and long élevage to emphasise purity, texture and the structural identity of each climat.

Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Jean Rouge is a rare red expression from one of the appellation’s most highly regarded Premier Cru sites, located on well exposed mid slope limestone and clay soils that are more typically associated with structured, fine grained Pinot Noir. The vineyard is worked with low yield focus and careful canopy management to ensure even ripening in a marginal red wine terroir. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, often incorporating a proportion of whole clusters depending on vintage conditions to enhance aromatic lift and structural detail. Élevage is carried out in French oak barrels with a modest proportion of new oak, designed to support rather than dominate the fruit. The wine shows a profile of red cherry, wild raspberry and crushed rose petals layered with subtle spice, iron rich earth and limestone tension. The palate is finely structured, with precise tannins, bright acidity and a persistent mineral finish that reflects the elevated, limestone driven identity of this uncommon red Premier Cru.
