Zweigelt, Weingut Sepp Muster 2020
Sepp Muster
Sepp and Maria Muster took over their 10 hectare estate in Schlossberg near the small town of Leutschach in Styria (called Steiermark) from their parents Theresa and Rudolf Muster. The oldest document records of the estate date back to 1727 whereas the layout plans of the vineyards date back to 1787. We are in rolling countryside, plenty of forest, right on the border of Slovenia.
Sepp Muster really elevates this red grape by means of careful biodynamic farming, selective yields, slow long ferments and long maturation. The wine is dark and almost earthy to start but once it opens us it reveals remarkable aromas of violets and wild bramble fruit and almost silky tannins.
