Egon Müller is one of Germany’s most celebrated Riesling producers, based in the Saar village of Wiltingen. The family estate has been making wine since the 18th century, and today Egon Müller IV oversees both the vineyards and the cellar, maintaining a philosophy of precision, purity, and expression of site. The estate focuses on steep slate terraces, very low yields, meticulous canopy management, and hand harvesting. Müller’s style is defined by elegance, crystalline minerality, and wines that reflect both vintage and terroir with extraordinary clarity and ageing potential.
The Wiltinger Braune Kupp Spätlese Le Gallais 2020 comes from a monopole holding of the Braune Kupp vineyard, south facing and planted on deep slate and quartzite soils with iron rich subsoils. The slope produces naturally high acidity, pronounced minerality, and finely structured Riesling. The 2020 vintage was cool and balanced, producing concentrated but precise fruit. The wine shows racy citrus, white stone fruit, honeyed notes, floral lift, and a stony saline backbone, combining freshness with depth and a long, refined finish. Being a VDP Auction wine, it is highly limited and considered one of the most prestigious releases of the vintage.
