Domaine Catherine and Pierre Breton is a highly regarded estate in Vouvray in the Loire Valley. Catherine and Pierre Breton farm their vineyards organically and biodynamically, focusing on old Chenin Blanc vines planted on tuffeau, clay and sandy soils. The couple work with a deep respect for the environment and living soil, using cover crops, compost and herbal preparations, and harvesting entirely by hand. In the cellar, they rely on indigenous yeasts, minimal intervention and careful aging in stainless steel or older vessels to allow the purity of fruit and the subtle nuances of the terroir to emerge in every vintage. Their wines are widely celebrated for precision, energy and a sense of place.
Vouvray Sec La Dilettante 2024 is a dry white wine made from 100 % Chenin Blanc. The grapes are hand harvested and slowly pressed before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. Aging takes place on fine lees in stainless steel and older vessels until ready for bottling without fining or filtration. The wine shows bright citrus and orchard fruit aromatics with a taut mineral backbone and lively acidity that reflects both the variety and the cool climate of the appellation.
