Mark Angeli of Ferme de la Sansonnière is one of the Loire’s most uncompromising and influential vignerons. Based in Thouarcé in Anjou, he has farmed biodynamically since the late 1980s, working old Chenin parcels with horse ploughing and very low yields to preserve concentration and vitality. Fermentations are spontaneous and élevage is extended, with minimal sulphur and no cosmetic intervention, allowing site and vine age to speak with clarity.

Vieilles Vignes des Blanderies is drawn from the oldest Chenin vines within the Blanderies parcel, rooted deep into schist soils that transmit both power and mineral tension. The 2023 vintage brought ripe fruit yet retained firm acidity, giving scale without heaviness. Expect layers of quince, baked apple and citrus oil, framed by phenolic grip and a long saline finish. It is a wine of breadth and structure, built for patient cellaring.
