Domaine Derain is a family‑run estate in the Saint Aubin appellation of Burgundy founded in 1988 by Dominique Derain and now managed by Julien Altaber with Carole Schwab. The domaine farms vineyard parcels organically and biodynamically on clay and limestone rich slopes in Saint Aubin and focuses on manual harvesting, cover cropping and natural vineyard work. In the cellar the team uses indigenous yeasts and minimal intervention vinification, with careful ageing in old oak to allow terroir and varietal character to emerge clearly in each wine.
Saint Aubin Blanc 1er Cru Sur Le Sentier Du Clou 2022 is a white wine made from 100 % Chardonnay from the Premier Cru site Sur Le Sentier Du Clou. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing for around 12 to 14 months in old French oak barrels. The wine shows expressive orchard fruit and citrus aromatics with mineral tension and a rounded palate that reflects the premier cru terroir of this south facing slope.
