Domaine Frantz Saumon is a natural wine producer based in Montlouis‑sur‑Loire in the Loire Valley. Frantz Saumon established his domaine in 2001 after a career as a forest ranger in Canada and France, inspired by an early mentorship with Christian Chaussard of Domaine le Briseau. The estate farms organically and biodynamically, working with minimal intervention and spontaneous fermentations with native yeasts. Vines are planted on soils of clay, limestone and flint, and the cellar uses a variety of vessels including stainless steel and wood to reflect purity and freshness in the wines.
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Vin de Frantz is made from 100 % Sauvignon Blanc grown in the Montlouis‑sur‑Loire area. The grapes are hand harvested, slowly pressed and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing on lees in stainless steel or large wooden barrels for around six months, without fining or filtration. The wine shows bright citrus, gooseberry and grapefruit notes with lively acidity and a zesty, refreshing finish that reflects the Loire’s cool climate and careful minimal‑intervention approach.
