Vincent Gaudry is one of Sancerre’s true originals — energetic, intuitive, and deeply committed to his land. After joining his father’s domaine in 1991, Vincent quickly questioned conventional farming. Following a severe reaction to chemical treatments, he made the radical decision to eliminate them entirely, becoming one of the first growers in Sancerre to farm organically, later converting fully to biodynamics in 2002. Today, the estate spans around 11 hectares, worked with great care and a strong focus on soil life and vineyard balance. Vincent draws inspiration from older generations of vignerons, shaping a range of wines that express Sancerre’s diverse terroirs — from limestone-clay slopes to flint-rich soils.
In the cellar, his approach is natural and precise: native yeast fermentations, long ageing on fine lees, and minimal intervention, with no fining or filtration. The result is a lineup of wines marked by energy, purity and texture, capturing both the vibrancy and depth of this classic Loire appellation.
Vincent explained that when wine was still sold by the barrel, the négociants of Paris used to blend the three different terroirs of Sancerre in equal parts to make a wine that was complete. A nod to this old tradition, Tournebride is a blend of 'caillotes' from Verdigny, 'terres blanches' from Sury-en-Vaux and 'silex' from Saint-Satur from 6 to 40yo vines. A very pure expression of Sancerre, delicately perfumed with a touch of gras and mineral tension.
