Domaine de Lorient is a small family run estate in the northern Rhône, working across parcels in Cornas and Saint Péray on the right bank of the Rhône Valley. In Saint Péray, the domaine farms vineyards on the granite and limestone influenced slopes that surround the appellation, where altitude and exposure play a key role in preserving freshness in a warm continental climate. The estate works in a restrained, detail driven style, focusing on clean fruit expression and balance rather than oxidative or heavy traditional interpretations sometimes associated with the region. Vinification is guided by native fermentations and gentle handling, with élevage designed to preserve aromatic clarity and textural finesse.

Saute Mouton is a Saint Péray white wine made from the appellation’s traditional varieties, Marsanne and Roussanne, which thrive on the stony, granitic soils of the northern Rhône. The cuvée is typically defined by a balance of ripe stone fruit richness and underlying freshness, with a style that leans toward clarity and precision rather than overt weight. The wine shows ripe pear, white peach and citrus peel, with floral lift, almond and a subtle honeyed nuance. The palate is rounded and textured, with moderate acidity and a gentle mineral thread that carries through to a soft, balanced finish. Vinification is carried out with gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel and neutral vessels depending on parcel, followed by lees ageing to build texture while maintaining freshness and aromatic definition.
