Saint-Emilion, Chateau Moulin de Lagnet 2022
Chateau Moulin de Lagnet
A wonderfully pure and fruit-driven Saint-Émilion from Audrey Carraretto and Olivier Chatenet, made from organically farmed vines on the sandy clay soils around Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes. The grapes are harvested by hand, carefully sorted and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing entirely in stainless steel, deliberately avoiding oak to preserve freshness and fruit.
Ripe red cherry and blackberry meet plum, eucalyptus and mint, with subtle spice underneath. The palate is generous yet fresh, with supple tannins and a distinctive saline character bringing energy to the ripe fruit. A refreshingly unforced expression of Saint-Émilion, juicy, savoury and immediately approachable, with none of the heaviness sometimes associated with the appellation.
