Alex Moreau is part of the Moreau family of Chassagne Montrachet, working alongside his father Bernard Moreau before establishing his own label and style. Based in the heart of the village, he draws on deep rooted family holdings across some of Chassagne’s most respected sites, with a focus on precise, site driven Chardonnay. Farming is carried out with a strong emphasis on sustainability and vineyard health, and in the cellar his approach is measured and exacting, favouring gentle pressing, controlled fermentations and élevage designed to balance richness with tension. The wines are known for their clarity, mineral precision and quietly layered structure, sitting firmly within a modern but classically grounded Burgundian style.

Terre Blanche comes from higher altitude limestone slopes in Saint Aubin, where thinner soils and cooler exposures produce a more tensile and mineral driven expression of Chardonnay. The site naturally yields wines with bright acidity and a focused, linear profile, often sitting stylistically between Puligny precision and a slightly more open texture. Moreau approaches the cuvée with restraint, using gentle pressing and barrel fermentation to preserve purity while building subtle texture. Elevage on fine lees adds depth without softening the wine’s natural drive. The wine shows lemon zest, green apple and white peach, with notes of white flowers, crushed stone and a pronounced saline edge. The palate is taut and energetic, with fine acidity and a long, mineral finish that reflects the altitude and limestone intensity of the site.
