Domaine Derain is a family‑run estate in the Saint Aubin appellation of Burgundy. It was founded in 1988 by Dominique Derain, a former cooper who began farming organically and biodynamically almost from the start and has been certified biodynamic by Ecocert since the late 1980s. The vineyards lie on slopes just south of the Côte de Beaune and near premier cru and grand cru terroirs, and today the domaine is managed by Julien Altaber with Carole Schwab while Dominique remains involved. The team focuses on sustainable vineyard work, manual harvesting and minimal intervention in the cellar, using indigenous yeasts and gentle vinification to let terroir and fruit clarity come forward.
Saint Aubin Blanc 2022 is a white wine made from 100 % Chardonnay from organically and biodynamically farmed vines in the Saint Aubin appellation. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing, typically in a combination of stainless steel, concrete or older oak depending on vintage, then bottled without fining or filtration. This wine is described as pure and expressive with bright aromatics, fresh acidity and a mineral thread that reflects the cool climate and limestone influenced soils of the region.
