Georg Breuer is one of the defining estates of the Rheingau and a benchmark for dry German Riesling. Founded in 1880 in Rüdesheim, the domaine was fundamentally reshaped in the 1980s when Bernhard Breuer championed a move away from sweet, volume driven styles toward precise, terroir focused, dry wines. Today, under the direction of Theresa Breuer, the estate farms around forty hectares across some of the Rheingau’s most revered sites, including Berg Schlossberg, Berg Rottland and Nonnenberg. Organic practices, meticulous hand harvesting and a strong emphasis on site expression underpin a philosophy centred on clarity, structure and ageworthiness.
Riesling Rüdesheim Estate 2023 draws primarily from steep slate and quartzite parcels around Rüdesheim, offering a distilled expression of the village’s tension and mineral drive. The 2023 vintage delivered vibrant acidity and excellent phenolic ripeness, resulting in a wine that is taut yet generous. Citrus peel, green apple and white peach sit alongside a cool, stony core, with a saline edge that carries through a focused, linear finish. It is incisive, dry and structured, but already beautifully poised.
