Alex Moreau is part of the Moreau family of Chassagne Montrachet, working alongside his father Bernard Moreau before establishing his own label and style. Based in the heart of the village, he draws on deep rooted family holdings across some of Chassagne’s most respected sites, with a focus on precise, site driven Chardonnay. Farming is carried out with a strong emphasis on sustainability and vineyard health, and in the cellar his approach is measured and exacting, favouring gentle pressing, controlled fermentations and élevage designed to balance richness with tension. The wines are known for their clarity, mineral precision and quietly layered structure, sitting firmly within a modern but classically grounded Burgundian style.

This Puligny Montrachet village cuvée is sourced from limestone dominant parcels that emphasise precision, tension and a more linear expression of Chardonnay. Compared to Chassagne, the profile here is tighter and more focused, with less overt breadth and a stronger mineral spine. Moreau approaches the wine with restraint, using gentle pressing and barrel fermentation to build texture while preserving clarity. Elevage on fine lees adds subtle weight without softening the wine’s natural drive. The wine shows lemon zest, green apple and white peach, alongside white flowers, almond and a pronounced chalky minerality. The palate is taut and finely structured, with bright acidity and a long, precise finish that reflects Puligny’s hallmark clarity and finesse.
