Potato Land Gruner Veltliner, Matthias Warnung 2021
Matthias Warnung
Matthias grew up in a small, family-owned winery situated in the Kamptal. During his time in South Africa and Southern France, inspired by his teachers Craig Hawkins of Lammershoek and Tom Lubbe of Matassa his passion for natural wines grew steadily. Back home in the village of Etsdorf he started to produce wines the way he liked it – as if he would make them just for himself. Matthias now works 10ha planted with Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Zweigelt, Müller Thurgau and Chardonnay.
Lighter style of Gruner from young vines, fermented and aged in stainless steel rather than large Austrian oak. Appealing wine with notes of pear and plum and good freshness on the finish.
