Château Gombaude-Guillot is a family-run eight-hectare estate situated on the central plateau of Pomerol, neighbouring Trotanoy and Clinet. The Técher family has worked the property since the late nineteenth century, and today Olivier Técher continues the shift to organic and biodynamic farming begun in the 1990s. The vineyards sit on gravel and sandy clay with veins of iron-rich crasse de fer, lending depth and minerality. Fermentations are carried out with native yeasts, and ageing takes place in a combination of French oak and clay amphora to preserve vibrancy and structure.
Château Gombaude-Guillot 2016 was produced from the same organically farmed parcels but in a warmer, more generous year. Predominantly Merlot with around fifteen percent Cabernet Franc, the wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in a mix of old and new oak plus amphora for over a year. It shows darker fruit, supple tannins, and a concentrated mid-palate balanced by freshness, finishing with classic Pomerol depth.
