Selection Massale is the project of Dan Gillett, founder of Wine Diamonds, one of New Zealand's leading importers and distributors of organic and natural wines. Established to showcase the character of individual grape varieties and vineyards, the project works with organically farmed fruit from across New Zealand, favouring minimal intervention and an emphasis on drinkability. The name refers to massal selection, the traditional practice of propagating vines from a selection of individual plants rather than relying on a single clone, helping preserve genetic diversity in the vineyard. Working with growers across Marlborough and Central Otago, Selection Massale produces wines that combine regional character with a refreshingly straightforward approach to winemaking.

Sourced from Bendigo in Central Otago, this Pinot Noir delivers generous, concentrated fruit without sacrificing freshness. Hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel, the fruit undergoes an extended four week maceration before being pressed into seasoned French oak barriques. Aged on its lees for 16 months, the wine develops a supple texture and savoury complexity while retaining its vibrant fruit character. Expect juicy blackberry and Morello cherry, with hints of cacao and spice, supported by fresh acidity and soft tannins. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, this is an expressive, fruit forward Central Otago Pinot Noir that balances concentration with an easygoing, approachable style.
