Alonso y Pedrajo is a small, quality driven estate based in Villalba de Rioja in Rioja Alta, working with old vines and indigenous varieties that reflect the historical fabric of the region. The project focuses on careful farming, restrained yields and minimal intervention cellar work, allowing lesser known grapes to express their character with clarity. Alongside their more classical Reserva wines, they produce limited Pequeñita cuvées that explore traditional Rioja methods through a contemporary, texture focused lens.
Pequeñita Rioja Maturana Macerado 2019 is a small production wine centred on the rare Maturana variety, historically grown in Rioja but seldom bottled on its own. The 2019 vintage delivered concentration and ripeness balanced by fresh acidity. The wine is dark berried and gently spiced, with savoury herbal notes, firm yet refined tannins and a long mineral finish shaped by extended maceration and patient élevage.
