Ancre Hills Estates, nestled in the rolling chalky slopes of Kent, is the vision of Helen and Tom Ancre Hill, pioneers of biodynamic viticulture in England. Now in their third decade of organic farming, they’ve championed minimal intervention winemaking that celebrates native yeasts and natural vineyard expression. Their dedication to soil health, hand tending, and low sulphur use creates wines that are a true reflection of their unique terroir, a cool climate with mineral rich chalk and flint soils.

The 2022 is a single variety Bacchus, hand harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented naturally on skins in large old oak vats. Extended maceration lasted 20 days, giving the wine its deep amber colour and layered tannic structure. The wine underwent eight months aging on lees with gentle bâtonnage to build complexity and mouthfeel, all without filtration or fining. Bottled with minimal sulphur, it offers vibrant aromas of ripe apricot, honeyed citrus, and subtle floral notes, balanced by a savoury minerality and a firm yet elegant tannic grip. This textured orange wine is both fresh and structured, an expressive example of English terroir meeting natural winemaking philosophy.
