La Mariota is a young estate in Vingrau, one of Roussillon’s finest terroirs, founded by Argentine couple Cecilia Diaz and Guillermo Campos. The pair met in Spain before moving to London to work in hospitality, later settling in France, where their passion for wine deepened in top Parisian restaurants. Encounters with competition-trained sommeliers shaped their taste towards finer, fresher styles. In 2013, after the birth of their first child, they left city life for the Roussillon. Guillermo trained with Domaine Danjou-Banessy and Clos du Rouge Gorge before they established their own vineyards in Vingrau and Tautavel in 2017.

Now farming 8 hectares (with half reserved for future plantings), they work organically and vinify with minimal intervention. Their wines balance brightness, structure and freshness, capturing the Mediterranean landscape with a subtle oxidative touch — expressive, terroir-driven wines full of energy and character.

‘Bright, cloudy orange and smelling of orange blossom (and I'm pretty sure this is not power of suggestion – I went outside to check by burying my nose in our choisya bush, which is still in bloom). Quite possibly one of the most delicious, refined, elegant and sapid orange wines I've ever tasted. It's a gingery, spicy helix of long, almost-invisible tannins: fragrant with turmeric, saffron and white pepper; drenched in bitter-orange juices, kumquat and quince. It has vermouth-like aromatics, tingling with orange peel, bitter herbs, minty coolth and chilli heat. Bottle size 75cl

Winemaking Hand-harvested; whole macerated on skins for 12 days, fermented in barrels with indigenous yeast, aged in old barrels for 12 months, and another 6 minimum in bottle; Undergoes full malolactic.  Unfined, unfiltered and bottled without SO2.

Notes Organic, Natural, No added sulphur, minimal intervention
