Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Boudots, Domaine Georges Noëllat 2022
Domaine Georges Noëllat
Domaine Georges Noëllat is a Vosne Romanée based estate with deep roots in Burgundy, now led by Maxime Cheurlin, who has refined the domaine’s style toward greater precision and consistency while maintaining its traditional foundations. The estate holds parcels across key villages in the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, including Vosne Romanée, Nuits Saint Georges and Gevrey Chambertin, with a focus on careful vineyard management, controlled yields and meticulous harvest timing. In the cellar, the approach balances structure and polish, with measured extraction and élevage in French oak used to shape wines that are both approachable in youth and capable of ageing.
Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Boudots sits at the northern end of the appellation, directly bordering Vosne Romanée, and is widely regarded as one of the most refined and perfumed sites in Nuits Saint Georges. The soils here are a mix of limestone and clay, with a slightly higher proportion of limestone than many southern Nuits sites, contributing to greater aromatic lift and finer tannin structure. The proximity to Vosne Romanée is often reflected in the style, with a more supple and elegant profile compared to the typically more robust expressions of the village. In Noëllat’s hands, vinification is carried out with controlled extraction to preserve finesse while maintaining depth, followed by élevage in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new oak to support integration and structure. The wine shows red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, with rose petal, spice and a subtle savoury edge. The palate is finely textured and balanced, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a long, composed finish that reflects both the pedigree of the site and the domaine’s polished style.
