Domaine de la Pépière is a benchmark producer in the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation of the Loire Valley, located in the village of Maisdon sur Sèvre near Nantes. Founded in the early 1980s by Marc Ollivier, the domaine farms organically and biodynamically across granitic and sandy soils, working by hand in the vineyards and using minimal intervention winemaking. It is recognised for elevating Muscadet beyond simple industrial styles to wines with purity, texture and saline energy.
The 2024 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie is made from 100 % Melon de Bourgogne and vinified with natural yeasts following direct pressing and settling of juice. After fermentation in stainless steel, it is aged on its lees in large underground tanks for several months before bottling without fining or filtration. The wine shows bright citrus, green apple and white fruit aromatics, lifted by a fine mineral backbone and saline freshness characteristic of the region’s granite influenced terroir.
