Thibault Liger Belair took over the family domaine in 2001, re establishing a historic Nuits Saint Georges estate whose roots trace back several generations within one of Burgundy’s most recognised families. While distinct from the Vosne Romanee branch of the Liger Belair lineage, Thibault has built his domaine with a clear, independent identity, steadily expanding holdings through both inheritance and carefully selected parcels. Today the estate spans key sites across the Cote de Nuits and Beaujolais, reflecting his dual focus on Pinot Noir and Gamay, and his interest in expressing site across different terroirs. He farms organically, with biodynamic principles increasingly informing vineyard work, and places strong emphasis on vine health, soil vitality, and precise harvest timing. In the cellar, his approach is deliberate and restrained, often incorporating whole bunch fermentation, favouring gentle extraction, and adapting elevage to each cuvee to balance structure with clarity of fruit and terroir expression.

Les Perrelles is a Moulin a Vent parcel planted on decomposed granite soils with a notable manganese influence, giving the wine both structural density and a distinctly mineral frame. The site typically delivers small berried Gamay with natural concentration and an underlying tension that builds with careful élevage. Liger Belair works the fruit with a precise, low intervention approach, incorporating a proportion of whole bunch fermentation to enhance aromatic lift and structural definition. Extraction is gentle but persistent to build texture without sacrificing energy, and élevage is carried out in neutral barrels and large format vessels to preserve purity and site transparency. The wine shows dark cherry, blackberry and black plum, layered with violet florals, crushed rock and spice. The palate is focused and structured, with firm but fine tannins and a long, saline mineral finish shaped by granite driven tension.
