Stéphane Magnien is based in Morey Saint Denis and represents a family domaine with deep roots in the Cote de Nuits, working a small but focused range of appellations across Gevrey Chambertin, Morey Saint Denis and Chambolle Musigny. The estate is built around careful parcel selection and traditional Burgundian winemaking, with an emphasis on vineyard precision and restrained cellar intervention. Magnien tends to favour fruit clarity and site expression over extraction or overt oak influence, with farming that prioritises healthy soils, balanced yields and harvest timing that preserves freshness. The style across the domaine leans toward classical structure with an understated approach to élevage, allowing each terroir to speak without excess handling in the cellar.

Les Monts Luisants is a steep, limestone driven Premier Cru in Morey Saint Denis that sits just above the village, where thin soils and high elevation produce wines of notable tension and aromatic lift. The site is known for its energetic, linear expression, often showing a cooler and more mineral profile than the more powerful mid slope climats. In this cuvée, Magnien works with a gentle extraction and a proportion of whole bunch fermentation to preserve precision and floral detail. Elevage in barrel is discreet, with restrained new oak used to support structure rather than impart weight. The wine shows red cherry, wild raspberry and cranberry, alongside violet florals, crushed rock and subtle spice. The palate is taut and finely detailed, with vibrant acidity, fine tannins and a long, saline mineral finish that reflects the altitude and limestone intensity of the site.
