Pierrick Bouley was born in 1987 and trained in viticulture and oenology in Beaune before founding his own estate in Monthélie in 2016. Bouley works with 5 hectares across Monthélie and Volnay, focusing on premier cru parcels with distinct soils and microclimates. His philosophy centres on low-intervention, terroir-driven wines that express the unique character of each vineyard. Grapes are hand-harvested, fermentations are indigenous yeast-led, and wines are aged in carefully selected French oak barrels, with minimal sulphur, no fining, and no filtration. The aim is to highlight both village identity and individual cru expression.

Monthélie 1er Cru Les Clous 2020 comes from a south-facing mid-slope parcel on limestone-rich soils bordering Volnay. This vineyard produces wines with more structure and minerality than other Monthélie crus. The 2020 vintage was warm, giving ripe cherry and plum aromatics balanced by natural acidity. Grapes were hand-harvested, destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged 12–14 months in French oak barrels, yielding a wine of elegance, finesse, and a persistent finish.
