Bret Brothers is the négociant arm of Domaine La Soufrandière, led by brothers Jean Guillaume and Jean Philippe Bret, who are based in the Mâconnais and have become key figures in the region’s shift toward high quality, terroir driven Chardonnay. Alongside their estate holdings, the Bret Brothers project allows them to work with trusted growers across southern Burgundy, applying the same organic and biodynamic principles and meticulous vineyard selection. Their approach centres on low intervention winemaking, native fermentations and careful élevage, with a focus on expressing site with clarity, energy and precision rather than weight or overt oak influence.

This Mâcon Chardonnay is sourced from selected parcels across limestone and clay dominated soils of the Mâconnais, where warm conditions are tempered by elevation and airflow, allowing for ripe fruit expression while retaining natural freshness. The cuvée is designed as a clear, honest expression of the region rather than a single climat statement, focusing on purity, balance and drinkability. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, followed by a restrained élevage in barrel that builds texture without masking fruit definition. The wine shows ripe citrus, yellow apple and pear, with white flowers, almond and a subtle saline undertone. The palate is supple and generous, balanced by a fresh mineral line that keeps the wine focused and approachable.
