Domaine Montesquiou is based in Monein, at the heart of the Jurançon appellation in the foothills of the western Pyrenees, where vineyards climb steep south facing slopes between 300 and 450 metres. The estate is run by Stéphane and Léa Montesquiou, who farm a small collection of terraced parcels rooted in poudingue conglomerate and clay limestone soils. All vineyard work is carried out by hand due to the extreme gradients, with grass cover maintained to limit vigour and protect against erosion. Farming is organic, with very low yields and late harvesting to suit the slow ripening character of local varieties. In the cellar, vinification is parcel specific, relying on indigenous yeasts, slow fermentations and neutral vessels to preserve the natural acidity and saline structure that define dry Jurançon.

Jurançon Sec L’Estela 2024 comes from a single high altitude parcel planted exclusively to Petit Manseng on a steep south east facing slope above Monein. The 2024 growing season was cool and drawn out, with a late flowering followed by a long autumn that allowed Petit Manseng to reach phenolic maturity while retaining piercing acidity. Harvest took place in several selective passes from late October into November, with each pick targeting freshness rather than richness. The grapes were pressed slowly and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel to preserve aromatic clarity. Ageing remained reductive, with short lees contact and no oak influence. The wine is incisive and saline, driven by grapefruit, green pineapple, crushed stone and a distinctly bitter citrus finish typical of young Petit Manseng grown at altitude.
