Traditionally there were small mixed farms in the area, but they always grew vines. In 1975 Matthias Beck took over from his father and started to focus on wine only, they started with 5 ha. Today the Beck estate has 15 ha of vines. In 2001 Judith took over responsibility for the cellar after gaining experience in France, Italy and Chile.
A playful, wonderfully light expression of Blaufränkisch from Judith Beck’s biodynamically farmed vineyards around Gols in Burgenland. Rather than extracting the variety’s usual darker, more structured side, whole grapes undergo just a few days of maceration, creating a pale, almost rosé-like red packed with freshness.
Sour cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry meet violet, white pepper and subtle herbal notes. The palate is light and incredibly juicy, with vibrant acidity, delicate tannins and a gentle savoury edge. Fragrant, energetic and effortlessly drinkable, yet with plenty of character underneath, a beautifully unconventional take on Blaufränkisch, particularly good served slightly chilled.
