Domaine Sylvain Cathiard is a Vosne Romanée based estate widely regarded as one of the benchmark producers of the Côte de Nuits, now led by Sébastien Cathiard, who continues to refine the domaine’s signature precision driven style. The estate is built on meticulous vineyard work, very low yields and careful parcel selection across Vosne Romanée, Nuits Saint Georges and surrounding appellations. Across all cuvées, the philosophy remains consistent, focusing on purity of fruit, aromatic detail and finely tuned structure, with controlled extraction and élevage in French oak used to support rather than dominate the wine.

Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Dames Huguette comes from a named high altitude lieu dit above the Côte de Nuits, where limestone rich soils and cooler exposure produce Pinot Noir with lifted aromatics, fine tension and a distinctly linear profile compared to lower slope vineyards. The site expression is defined by freshness and clarity rather than density, with a natural emphasis on red fruit purity and floral detail. In Cathiard’s hands, the wine is vinified with controlled, gentle extraction to preserve finesse and avoid structural heaviness, followed by élevage in French oak barrels with a restrained proportion of new oak to maintain precision and site transparency. The wine shows red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, with violet florals, subtle spice and a fine stony mineral edge. The palate is fresh and finely etched, with supple tannins, bright acidity and a long, focused finish that reflects both altitude and the domaine’s exacting style.
