Domaine Tawse is a Beaune based Burgundy estate founded in 2006 by Canadian entrepreneur Moray Tawse, who assembled the domaine through the strategic acquisition of high quality vineyard holdings across both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. Unlike many historic Burgundian domaines, it was built from the ground up with a clear intent to operate at the top tier, securing an impressive range of Premier and Grand Cru sites in appellations such as Gevrey Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Nuits Saint Georges, Meursault and Puligny Montrachet. From the outset, the philosophy has been rooted in precision viticulture, with organic and biodynamic principles applied across the vineyards, strict yield control and highly selective harvesting. Winemaking is guided by Pascal Marchand, whose influence brings a disciplined, low intervention approach shaped by his deep experience in Burgundy, favouring whole berry fermentation where appropriate, gentle extraction and long élevage in French oak to emphasise clarity, structure and site definition across the portfolio.

Gevrey Chambertin Aux Etelois is a village level climat located on the lower to mid slopes of the appellation, where clay limestone soils tend to produce a more open and fruit driven expression of Pinot Noir compared to the more structured Premier Cru sites higher up the slope. The vineyard sits in a position that typically yields wines with approachable texture and supple tannins while still retaining the darker fruit profile and underlying framework characteristic of Gevrey Chambertin. In Tawse’s hands, the fruit is carefully selected and vinified with controlled extraction to preserve purity and balance, allowing the site to express itself without excess weight. Elevage takes place in French oak barrels with a restrained proportion of new oak, ensuring integration while supporting structure. The wine shows red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, with violet florals, gentle spice and a subtle earthy undertone. The palate is supple and finely balanced, with fresh acidity, soft tannins and a composed finish that reflects both the generosity of the site and the precision driven style of the domaine.
