Domaine Duroché is a family estate based in Gevrey Chambertin, now led by Pierre Duroché, who has steadily established the domaine as one of the most precise and articulate voices in the northern Côte de Nuits. Since taking over from his father Gilles, Pierre has refined both vineyard and cellar work with a clear emphasis on purity, balance and site transparency. The domaine holds a strong range of parcels across Gevrey Chambertin, including several Premier and Grand Cru sites, with viticulture focused on careful vineyard management, low yields and meticulous harvest timing. In the cellar, the approach is defined by control and precision, with measured extraction and élevage designed to integrate seamlessly with the fruit rather than mark the wine.

Lavaut Saint Jacques sits on the slope directly below Clos Saint Jacques, sharing similar limestone rich soils but typically delivering a slightly broader and more open expression of Gevrey Chambertin. The site benefits from excellent exposure and drainage, allowing for consistent ripening while maintaining tension and aromatic lift. In Duroché’s hands, the wine is vinified with a parcel specific approach, with extraction carefully managed to preserve both structure and finesse. Elevage takes place in French oak barrels with a restrained and well integrated use of new oak, allowing the mineral character of the site to remain clearly defined. The wine shows red and dark cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry, with violet florals, subtle spice and a distinct stony edge. The palate is layered and finely structured, with precise tannins, bright acidity and a long, lifted finish that balances depth with clarity.
