Domaine Berthaut Gerbet is a family estate based in Fixin in the northern Côte de Nuits, led by Amélie Berthaut following the merger of two historic family domaines, Berthaut and Gerbet, a consolidation that brought together some of the village’s more significant vineyard holdings. Long established as one of Fixin’s reference producers, the estate has been central to the appellation’s gradual shift from a traditionally robust, trade driven style toward greater precision and site transparency. Amélie, who took full responsibility for winemaking in the late 2010s, has driven a clear stylistic refinement across both reds and whites, with a focus on controlled extraction, purity of fruit and a more nuanced expression of terroir. While Fixin remains the heart of the domaine, holdings also extend into Gevrey Chambertin and Vosne Romanée, alongside a small but increasingly interesting range of white wines. Viticulture is guided by organic principles, with careful canopy work, low yields and precise harvesting to preserve aromatic detail and freshness.

Champs des Charmes Blanc is a rare white cuvée from Fixin, where limestone and clay soils provide the foundation for Chardonnay with both tension and a gently rounded texture. Whites from the Côte de Nuits are naturally limited in volume, making this a distinctive expression of the appellation’s cooler, more structured side. The site typically delivers a balance of citrus drive and subtle breadth, with a mineral core shaped by the northern Burgundian climate. In the glass, the wine shows lemon zest, green apple and ripe pear, with white flowers, almond and a faint flinty reduction. The palate is precise and lightly textured, with a fine line of acidity carrying through to a long, chalky, saline finish that reflects both the limestone influence of the vineyard and the domaine’s restrained approach in the cellar.
