Guido Marsella is a boutique family estate based in Avellino, in the heart of Campania, southern Italy. The Marsella family has cultivated vineyards in the volcanic soils of the region for generations, tracing their roots in Irpinia back to the early 20th century. Initially focused on local table grapes and small-scale wine production, the family gradually transitioned to professional winemaking in the 1980s, embracing traditional techniques combined with modern understanding of terroir. Today Guido Marsella leads the estate, maintaining a commitment to indigenous varieties, low intervention viticulture and careful vineyard management. The estate produces wines that reflect the unique minerality, aromatic purity and vitality of Irpinia while honouring the family’s century-long connection to the land.

The 2022 Fiano di Avellino comes from hand harvested Fiano grapes grown on volcanic soils with a mix of clay and tuff. The 2022 vintage was marked by a cool spring and warm, dry summer, allowing gradual ripening that preserved natural acidity while developing aromatic intensity. Fermentation occurred spontaneously in stainless steel with frequent lees stirring, and the wine was aged briefly on fine lees to enhance texture without masking freshness. It shows layered aromas of white flowers, citrus peel, stone fruits and subtle honeyed notes, with a bright, precise palate, fine acidity and lingering mineral finish. The wine exemplifies the elegance and clarity that define Guido Marsella’s approach to Fiano di Avellino.
