Willi Haag is a fourth generation winemaker based in the Mosel village of Brauneberg, part of a family that has been producing Riesling for over a century. Trained in viticulture and oenology in Germany, Willi took over the family vineyards in the early 2000s and has focused on low intervention, site expression, and careful handling of grapes from steep slate slopes along the Mosel. The estate is certified organic and produces wines that combine purity, freshness, and a precise mineral backbone, reflecting both vineyard and vintage. Willi’s style emphasises tension, elegance, and clarity rather than overt ripeness, making his wines highly distinctive among Mosel producers.
The Riesling Feinherb Gutswein 2022 comes from young to middle aged vines planted on slate rich soils with excellent drainage and natural acidity. The 2022 vintage was warm but balanced, giving aromatic intensity and precise fruit ripeness without excessive weight. The wine is fresh and lifted, with delicate sweetness, citrus, white stone fruit, and a fine mineral line that carries through to the finish.
