Dolcetto, Lalu 2021
In the heart of Piedmont's Langhe region lies Azienda Agricola Lalù, a small and recently established winery. Lara and Luisa met while studying at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy. Their winemaking journey began in 2013 after exploring winemaking in South Africa and Argentina. After establishing in 2014, the pair spent the next few years working in the Langhe for Trediberri and elsewhere in Burgundy such as Domaine Cecile Tremblay and with Dominique Lafon at Domaine des Comtes Lafon, where they learned the importance of terroir and the techniques of working closely with it.
Now with 3.5 hectares in total, shared between Nebbiolo and Barbera, the “Lalu” a meticulously taking care of their vineyards. The farming at Lalù is meticulous, and their winemaking informed and worldly. They strive to produce drinkable wines of elegance and sensitivity, reflecting the unique character of the Langhe terroir.
Their dolcetto shows fantastic fruit and spice on the nose, very fine and rich with a fresh and thoughtful drink in its components.
