Domaine Macle, based in the village of Château-Chalon, is a benchmark of the Jura and a master of oxidative winemaking. Founded in the 1960s by André Macle and now run by his son Laurent, the domaine farms around 12 hectares of vines on limestone and marl slopes with exceptional southern exposures. The family is known for their rigorous vineyard work and long ageing in old barrels under voile, producing wines with stunning complexity, tension and longevity. They vinify in the most classical and uncompromising Jura style, and their cellar in Château-Chalon is revered by connoisseurs across the world.

The Côtes du Jura Tradition blends Chardonnay and Savagnin, co-fermented and aged sous voile for just over three years in old oak barrels. The 2018 vintage was warm and generous, producing wines with concentration and early approachability while still retaining Jura’s hallmark acidity. This cuvée shows roasted nuts, curry leaf, green apple skin and a salty, oxidative tang. Textured and resonant, with energy and deep savour, it is a classic expression of mixed-variety Jura oxidative winemaking.
