Les Bottes Rouges is the personal project of Jean-Baptiste Ménigoz and Florien Kleine Snuverink, based in Abergement-le-Petit near Arbois in the Jura. A former schoolteacher, Jean-Baptiste retrained following an internship with Stéphane Tissot in 2012. Today the pair farm around ten hectares of Savagnin, Chardonnay, Trousseau, Poulsard and Pinot Noir on clay, limestone and marl soils, working organically with biodynamic principles. In the cellar they rely on wild fermentation, low sulphur, and bottle without fining or filtration to preserve a pure sense of place.
Boomerang is a roughly equal blend of Poulsard and Trousseau from marl-rich parcels. The 2022 vintage was shaped by high summer heat, though cooler spring and autumn nights helped retain natural acidity and freshness. After destemming and a gentle infusion in stainless steel, the wine was bottled with minimal intervention. Light, fragrant and breezy, this is packed with wild strawberries, sour cherry, crunchy texture and soft earthy lift.
