Based in Comblanchien, Antoine Lienhardt is quietly redefining the potential of this overlooked corner of the Côte de Nuits. Convinced the village’s finest sites rival neighbouring Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Crus, he crafts wines that showcase a striking mineral precision and energy, challenging the limits of the Côte de Nuits Villages appellation. Working with old vines (60–80 years) planted by his grandfather, alongside select parcels from trusted growers, Antoine farms organically and biodynamically, with a deep commitment to soil health and vineyard life. In the cellar, his approach is equally gentle: whole-bunch fermentation, short macerations, no sulphur during vinification, and careful ageing in barrel or cement, with minimal sulphur added only at bottling. The result is a range of wines defined by purity, vibrancy and finesse, energetic, expressive Burgundies that offer remarkable value and a compelling glimpse of Comblanchien’s untapped potential.

A beautiful limpid colour, throughout there are lovely, tart red fruit tones that are open to interpretation: redcurrant, blackberry, tart cherry. It’s almost beside the point because each whiff, every sip, seems different. Around the edges, the wine’s aromas also recall spring (peonies) and autumn leaves at different intervals. But it is the exuberant acidity, delicate and playful tannins, and fierce saline minerality on the finish that make this wine so refreshing, enjoyable and impeccably versatile at the table.
