Domaine Jean François Ganevat is one of the Jura’s most celebrated and influential estates, renowned for producing wines that combine ancient regional traditions with an uncompromising approach to natural winemaking. Based in Rotalier, in the southern Jura, Jean François and Anne Ganevat farm a remarkable collection of old vineyards according to biodynamic principles, working with exceptional vine material and a deep respect for biodiversity. Often called “Fanfan” by those close to him, Ganevat has become known for wines of extraordinary purity, energy and individuality, capturing both the delicacy of Jura and the complexity of great terroir driven wines.
Collines des Dames is a vibrant Vin de France red that reflects Ganevat’s adventurous approach to blending and terroir. Rather than being restricted by Jura appellation rules, the wine brings together a unique field blend of traditional Jura varieties and complementary grapes, creating a wine focused on freshness, perfume and drinkability. The grapes are cultivated biodynamically and harvested by hand before undergoing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, often with whole bunches retained to preserve aromatic lift and structure. Aged in old oak barrels with minimal intervention, the wine is bottled unfined, unfiltered and without additions. Fragrant notes of wild strawberry, raspberry, red cherry and violet are layered with herbs, spice and subtle earthy complexity. The palate is bright and elegant, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity and a savoury finish that captures the natural energy of Ganevat’s vineyards.
