Cyprien Arlaud is part of the third generation at Domaine Arlaud in Morey Saint Denis, a family estate established in the mid twentieth century with holdings across the Côte de Nuits. He has progressively converted the vineyards to organic and biodynamic farming, with a strong emphasis on soil health and precise vineyard work. His approach in the cellar is restrained and detail focused, aiming to translate each site with clarity and finesse rather than power, and his parcels within the Clos de Vougeot are handled with particular care to reflect their position within this historic grand cru.

Clos de Vougeot is a Grand Cru vineyard, one of Burgundy’s most historic and largest walled clos, originally established by Cistercian monks and today divided among multiple growers, making site position and producer critical to quality. Arlaud’s parcels lie in the mid slope section, where drainage and limestone influence bring greater definition and balance. Fruit is partially destemmed depending on conditions, with fermentation by indigenous yeasts and gentle extraction. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels with a modest proportion of new wood, allowing structure to integrate without dominating the wine. The profile is structured and layered, with dark cherry, wild berry and subtle spice, supported by firm but refined tannins and a mineral backbone that carries through a long, composed finish.
